Hello there! Welcome to Fearsome Editorial.

My name is Christine Fears, and I’m a freelance editor and writer based between Cambridge and London, UK. I provide copy-editing, proofreading, developmental editing, copy-writing, digital book creation, and blog or other content writing services.

I have worked in the publishing industry for several years, and in that time I have edited, written and proofread for organisations as varied as the Public Library of Science (PLOS), Erotic Review magazine, Wiley-Blackwell, and Kingston University.

Alongside companies, I regularly work with individuals to polish their writing before submission or publication. My clients include independent authors aiming to self publish or submit to agencies, academics hoping to make their work shine before they approach journals, and businesses who need perfect website and marketing copy.

For more detailed information about what I can do for you, please see my Rates and Services page.

Society for Editors and Proofreaders

SfEP-badge-[Intermediate-Member]-NormalI am an Intermediate Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP), and I keep my proofreading, copy-editing, and developmental editing skills honed using their training courses and online resources.

PhDs, Postdoctoral Research, and Scholarly Papers

I proofread or copy-edit PhDs and papers submitted to academic journals, and have a large client base of PhD students and postdocs/early career researchers.

I work with clients in a range of subjects, and have experience with papers in both the humanities and the sciences.

Non-native/ESL Authors and Translations

Many academics and businesses I work with are non-native speakers working in English as a second language. I love to enhance the communication of great ideas and businesses in English, and can help writers fine-tune their writing.

Independent Authors

While working with publishers and literary agencies, I edited and advised many fiction authors (often in the areas of romance and literary fiction). I adore taking these skills to the independent author community and working with indie authors to write, edit and digitise the books which are so personal to them, and seeing their success as they hit the Amazon bookstore.
